Meet the principals.

ARTHAUS is led by two principals who both studied architecture and work on every project, from the first meeting to the day you move in. Each brings skills that are unique and critical to the work, so projects come to life quickly, cost-effectively and accurately.

The partners
Shariar Moshtael

Shariar Moshtael

Partner · Construction lead

Shariar leads construction on every ARTHAUS project. He grew up in Germany and studied architecture at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg, graduating in 1998. He was a partner at Plan AG and then at Rohr Moshtael Architecture before co-founding Arthaus Development in 2014.

He prepares a detailed cost estimate at the start of every project, so the budget is grounded before the design is final, and he enjoys working out floor plan layouts. On site, he manages the trades and runs the project from the first day of construction to handover, keeping schedule, budget and quality on track.

Matin Moghaddam

Partner · Design lead

Matin leads design on every ARTHAUS project. He studied architecture at the University of Waterloo and worked at Perkins & Will, BDP Quadrangle and Diamond Schmitt Architects before co-founding Arthaus Development in 2014. He shapes every part of the design, from the first schematic sketches to the final polished visualisations.

He also runs the firm's finances, from project budgets and cash flow to feasibility studies, and presents every Committee of Adjustment application himself: 18 applications, 18 approvals. An expert in 3D modelling and rendering, he builds the models and images that let clients see and price their home before it is built.
